The Titans have more than $ 11 M in cap space for 2007 right now and will have a number of core guys heading to free agency within the next two seasons.
3 key components of the impressive OL will require long term deals soon - LT Michael Roos (under contract through 2008), LG Jacob Bell (unrestricted next spring), and David Stewart (restricted FA next year). In addition, valuable interior lineman Eugene Amano is also unrestricted next year.
Other offensive players who will be unrestricted free agents next include RB Chris Brown and TE's Ben Troupe and Ben Hartsock.
On defense, DE's Antwan Odom and Travis LaBoy are unrestricted free agents next spring as are DT's Albert Haynesworth, Randy Starks, and Corey Simon.
In the Titans case, guys like Roos, Bell, and Haynesworth are going to get paid and the price only goes up over time. The Titans need to use some of their cap money to extend players during the season or adjust contracts with likely to be earned incentives in order to get cap credits next year ala Minnesota and Philadelphia.
